Viewpoints announces intention to acquire PowerReviews

Today Viewpoints announced its intention to buy PowerReviews from Bazaarvoice.  The combination of Viewpoints and PowerReviews will restore competition to the market and unite two strong companies who have a shared vision for the future of social commerce.

PowerReviews’ strong multi-tenant SaaS platform, called the Essential Social Suite, enables more than a thousand brands and retailers to collect customer reviews and answer customer questions, while leveraging social media to amplify the positive impact of consumer engagement. The PowerReviews platform also provides cutting edge technology and tools to measure the ROI of reviews and answers.

It is important for all PowerReviews customers to know that there will be no interruption of service.  The same PowerReviews team that has been running the business will continue to do so. With input from our employees and clients, we will invest heavily in the business and technology platform to ensure that PowerReviews’ history of innovation continues into the future.

PowerReviews will offer review syndication services and will work with industry stakeholders to create an open network where the retailers and brands choose where their content (reviews, answers and other types of content) is syndicated regardless of what technology is used to collect reviews.  The Department of Justice has also indicated in their filings that an open network is very important to create a competitive market. We expect for the final agreement to specifically and definitively address these issues.

PowerReviews will provide moderation services and will continue to offer badges and a trust mark to communicate the authenticity of reviews.

All PowerReviews geographies (U.S., Europe, Asia & South America) and products (Essential Social Suite, PowerReviews Express and are part of this transition.

Viewpoints will continue to operate its consumer website, and offer Viewpoints Pulse, its review management tool to brands who are looking for a partner who can help them generate a significant volume of reviews for their products.

In addition to software and data, the combined company will also offer brands and retailers access to two of the leading consumer reviews websites that can help them by driving traffic to their site and generating more reviews from our loyal user communities. and have been visited more than 250 million times by in-market consumers.

By bringing Viewpoints and PowerReviews together we are uniting two companies with a shared commitment to finding innovative ways to engage consumers directly with the companies that serve them.  The power of reviews, answers and other innovative social commerce applications not yet invented will help both companies and consumers make better and more informed decisions.
